balance strengthening Classes

St Ives Physiotherapy offers Balance strengthening classes run by an experienced Physiotherapist.

We are following social distancing guidelines. This class is only offered in person at the studio.

There is also the option to book a one on one Balance Training session with your physiotherapist.
Call 9144 1118 for more details.

Before joining one of our classes you are required to have an assessment with one of our physiotherapists. During the Balance Strengthening assessment the physiotherapist will take a detailed history of any medical or musculoskeletal issues you may have. You will then have a full musculoskeletal assessment where we will assess your mobility, strength and stability as well as providing education and basic balance exercises. The Balance Strengthening assessment is a requirement to claim your classes under your private health fund. It is also to ensure the physiotherapist running the class knows about you and your history and can ensure exercises given are safe and appropriate.

Class times:
Tuesday 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Friday 10:30am - 11:30am

What is Balance Strengthening?
Our hour-long balance training classes are personally designed to improve your balance in a variety of ways. Activities will challenge your stationary and moving balance safely in a supervised way. There are many standing, walking and some seated tasks; no need to get up and down from the floor. Strengthening of postural muscles and stretching of tight areas will ensure a well-rounded program. Research shows we can improve our balance at any age, we just need to challenge it and practice, practice, practice!
