Dry needling, western accupuncture and traditional acupuncture

Physiotherapists at St Ives Physiotherapy & Sports Therapy Centre use Dry Needling techniques.

Dry Needling involves needling to tight painful muscles or muscles in spasm. The aim is to relieve pain and to improve or restore function.

Western Acupuncture uses meridian points but applies it to 'western' reasoning. It does not use any traditional Chinese medicine assessment methods.

Traditional Acupuncture is based on traditional Oriental medical practice. Acupuncture is then applied to the meridians either using specific acupuncture points or non specific areas where tissue changes are evident.
