HILLARY SIMON B.Sc. (Physiotherapy) APAM
Hillary graduated from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1984. Hillary established Hillary Simon Physiotherapy in 1991. In 2003, St Ives Physiotherapy & Sports Therapy Centre was purchased and the two practices merged. Hillary continues to run the practice which now operates out of The Loft, Level 3, St Ives Shopping Village, as well as The Exercise Centre, located close by. Hillary has a special interest in the treatment of both acute and chronic pain. These principles are applied when treating acute back and neck pain, arthritic joints and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Much focus is placed on ongoing education. Tai Chi Hillary is a certified Tai Chi for Health Instructor. She is certified to teach Tai Chi for Rehabilitation, Tai Chi for Arthritis 1 and 2, with Falls Prevention and Tai Chi for Energy 1 and 2. In addition, under the mentorship of Dr Paul Lam, Hillary is qualified to teach the popular 24 Forms Yang Style, 73 Forms Sun Style and combined 42 Forms Tai Chi sets. She is proud to be a current Board member of the Tai Chi for Health Institute. Hillary enjoys using her Physiotherapy knowledge, to add depth to her Tai Chi lessons. See our class timetable for more details. GLA:D Program Hillary is a certified GLA:D practitioner. GLA:D®, or Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark, is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms. GLA:D® uses education and exercise to help with daily activities. See our class timetable for more details. Hillary volunteered physiotherapy services at Oxfam Trailwalker (2009, 2010, 2011), Sydney Half Marathon (2011, 2012), City to Surf (2011, 2012), and Bare Creek Trail Run (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015). She currently leads the Village Walkers (an initiative of St Ives Physiotherapy & Sports Therapy Centre and Shoe Guru) on a 1 hour walk twice a week. Tuesday and Friday 7:30 am to 8:30 am St Ives Physiotherapy & Sports Therapy Centre prides itself in supporting the local community. The practice has ties with St Ives Rugby Football Club (providing on field assistance on weekends), Northern Tigers Football Club (on field assistance), Northern Suburbs Football Association (sponsorship), and St Ives Bowling Club (sponsorship).
