JAN COCKBURN B.App.Sc (Physiotherapy) APAM

​Jan graduated from Cumberland College of Health Sciences (Sydney University) with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) and spent her early physiotherapy career in Public Sector Health, including hospitals, rehabilitation centres and a special school. She gained experience in many areas of Physiotherapy including Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation (including neurology, amputees and spinal injuries), Paediatrics and Occupational Health and Safety. She was Physiotherapist in Charge at Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai Hospital between 1986 and 1990, and was on the Hospital's Management Committee.  Jan was also a Physiotherapy student supervisor.

Jan joined St Ives Physiotherapy & Sports Therapy Centre at the beginning of 1992. Her special interests lie in acute and long term orthopaedics and sport-related injuries. She also has a special interest in cervical headaches, as well as treating neck and back conditions. Jan uses a variety of approaches including Maitland, Mulligan and McKenzie, and regularly attends Continuing Education courses and lectures.

Jan is qualified in the use of Dry Needling techniques for myofascial release. She has had training in falls prevention and balance.
Outside of work, Jan keeps fit and healthy with regular walking, gym and skiing.
