The events of 2020 have changed the environment in which we live and work. In a new world of social distancing and technology we need to adapt to become smarter with how we stay physically and mentally fit. The team at St Ives Physiotherapy are proud to launch our first Telehealth (video conferencing) service to help keep our community active, just as we have done for almost 30 years.
What is Telehealth?
Simply put, Telehealth (video conferencing) is a way that health practitioners can remotely connect with people online to help them get back to optimal health.
What is it used for?
In our current world of social distancing and advice to stay home where possible, Telehealth consultations are the perfect way to receive a thorough assessment from your physiotherapist and develop strategies with you to help get you back on track. It is safe and effective, and our physios are trained to deliver Telehealth consultations. We can also help you decide whether imaging, GP or a face-to-face physiotherapy appointment is required.
Does this mean I can’t come in for a face to face consultation?
No. As an identified essential service, physiotherapy has strong support from state and federal governments to stay open. Physiotherapists play a key role in reducing the demand on hospital services and will be needed more as elective surgeries are delayed or cancelled.
What would a Telehealth physiotherapy consultation include?
An initial consultation will include a full initial interview and management strategies for patients new to the practice or presenting with new conditions. Follow-up appointments are great for making sure you are on the right track with appropriate exercise plans, and for ongoing advice to help you stay on top of your condition.
These conditions may include: osteoarthritis, pre- and post-operative exercises, ankle sprains, shoulder complaints and many more. Advise on ergonomic set up in your home office.
We are launching with an introductory offer for Telehealth of $75 for a 60 minute initial consultation, and $60 for 30 minute follow-ups.
If you would like to talk to us about continuing your treatment through Telehealth, please call us on 9144 1118 or book online here.
We are excited to launch online CET, Back and Tai Chi Classes. Call 9144 1118 for more details.
